A copy of a souvenir card presented to pupils of the one-room Klinger School, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, 1897-1898 term, by their teacher, Darius J. Wiest.
The verse on the card reads:
“Ah me, those joyous days are gone!
I little dreamt till they had flown,
How fleeting were the hours.”
In addition to the teacher’s name, and the school directors, Elias Schmeltz, Charles M. Thomas, Daniel Klinger, Elias Schoffstall, Elmer Wolf, Daniel Keboch, and County Superintendent R. R. McNeal, the card listed all the pupils who were successful in that term.
