In reflections from its files from 35 years prior, the Elizabethville Echo reported on 17 August 1933 on the attendance at the Lykens Valley Campmeeting of 1898:
Fifty-two cottages and eleven tents are occupied for sessions of the United Brethren Campmeeting now in progress. Services are in charge of Rev. W. H. Uhler, presiding elder. Conservative estimates of crowd Sunday, placed the number of persons in attendance at between 6,000 and 7,000. Other estimates place the number of teams and vehicles on the ground that day at between 700 and 800.
