Grover J. Byerly, 54, a World War veteran, was found dead in his home at Bridgeport, near Paxton, Sunday morning. He was a former resident of Elizabethville.
Mr. Byerly’s death was discovered by a neighbor, who while walking by the man’s home about 10 o’clock Sunday morning, saw a light burning. Looking in a window, he saw Mr. Byerly lying on the floor. A physician who was summoned said the man had died some hours before, possibly Saturday night. Death is believed to have been caused by a heart attack.
Mr. Byerly was a son of the late John A. Byerly, and Leah [Kitzmiller] Byerly, and was a native of Hickory Corners, Northumberland County. His wife, who was formerly Miss Julia Chubb, preceded him in death three years ago.
Survivors are three brothers: John A. Byerly, of Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania; Maxwell I. Byerly, of Pottstown; and Charles W. Byerly of Malta.
Funeral services will be held from the Minier Funeral Home, Millersburg, at 10:00 o’clock this Thursday morning, with further services in Salem Lutheran Church, Elizabethville. The pastor, Rev. W. Z. Artz, will officiate, and interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
