Harold W. Dietrich was born in Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, on 14 February 1919, the son of William E. Dietrich (1896-1977) and Helen [Hoffman] Dietrich (1895-1977).
About 1949, he married Irma Kapps, who was born 26 January 1929 in Vincennes County, Indiana.
It is believed that the photograph above was taken about 1984 on the occasion of their 35th Wedding Anniversary.
Harold was a graduate of Lykens Valley Vocational School. During his career, he worked as an independent miner, as a salesman for Sears Roebuck and Company, as a manager of a Harrisburg Area Holiday Inn, as well as owning and operating an outdoor advertising business.
When Harold and Irma met, she was working as a buyer and decorator for a major national department store. She also was the winner of a local [Indiana] beauty and talent contest which was affiliated with the Miss America Pageant held annually in Atlantic City.
They had three children. For a time, the family lived in Specktown, where the children attended area schools. In addition, they lived in Harrisburg, North Carolina and Southern New Jersey. In retirement, Harold and Irma moved to Florida.
Harold died on 12 March 1988 at Summerland Key, Florida. Irma died on 6 November 2002 at the same place.
