An undated portrait of Paul Wesley “Silas” Troutman of Loyalton, Washington Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was born 13 April 1916 in Loyalton and lived there until after retirement. On 22 March 1941, he married Lucy Hannah Marie Sitlinger, had two children with her and then served in World War II. After the war he returned to Loyalton and established himself as a carpenter and home builder. It is said by some residents of the area that it is difficult to find any homes built or remodeled after the war that he didn’t work on in one capacity or another. In retirement, Silas and Lucy moved first to Halifax, Dauphin County, and then to Selinsgrove, Snyder County, Pennsylvania. Silas died at the Manor at Penn Village near Selinsgrove on 20 December 2007. At his request, his ashes were spread on Short Mountain just above his beloved town of Loyalton.
