MILITARY RITES FOR WILLIAMSTOWN SOLDIER
Funeral service for Pfc. Allen J. Travitz, age 34 years, of Williamstown, were held from the home of his sister, Mrs. John Adams, in Williamstown, Saturday afternoon. Rev. C. S. Engle, pastor of the Dayton Evangelical Church officiated, and interment was made in Fairiew Cemetery, Williamstown. Military rites were conducted.
Pfc. Travitz, who had served two years with the Army in Europe, died aboard a troop ship, 28 October [1945], as the transport was nearing Boston.
He was a son of Clarence Travitz and the late Bertha Travitz, and was a native of Williamstown. He entered the armed forces 31 December 1942.
Survivors are his father and the following brothers and sisters, James W. Travitz, Williamstown; Mrs. Harriet Plank and Mrs. John Adams, of Williamstown; Miss Laura Travitz; Mrs. Marvin Hoke, and Mrs. Paul Hoke, Millersburg R. D.; Mrs. William Shoop, Halifax, R. D., and Clarence Travitz, Waymart, Pennsylvania.
