A photograph of a group of “Miners’ Patch Houses” from about 1900 built by mine owners to house workers. The location of the houses pictured here is unknown but they were said to be typical of those built for about $1000 each and rented for about $6 to $8 per month.
The houses in this photo appear to be luxurious compared to most provided by the coal companies.
