Mines Closed to Allow Men to Visit Gratz Fair
Special to the Telegraph
Wiconisco, Pennsylvania, 19 September [1913] — Thursday being the most important day of the week for Gratz Fair, the mines did not work yesterday. From 6 until 9 o’clock in the morning, one team after another passed along the main street on the road to Gratz. Many walked over the mountain also, as it is the shortest road. The attendance in all the school rooms to-day was small, especially so in the high school room, where over half the pupils were absent. The first of the fair goers arrived on this side the mountain at 4:15 and from the on a steady stream of people came down the mountain for more than an hour. All reported to have had a delightful time.
