An undated photograph of the Lincoln Colliery Breaker near Joliett, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
The photo caption reads:
Another in the chain of Philadelphia and Reading Coal and Iron Company collieries of the deep mine era was the Lincoln Colliery in southwestern Schuylkill County near Joliett. The mine operated in the Lykens Valley seams which produced red-ash coal, which was preferred in some market. The breaker was noted for its many windows. Like many other deep mines, the Lincoln Colliery shut down as a P&RCI Company operation with the onset of the Great Depression in the spring of 1930, and the breaker was dismantled shortly afterward.
