FUNERAL HELD FRIDAY FOR WILLIAMSTOWN SOLDIER
Funeral services for Sergeant Donald H. Hoffman, 21, of Williamstown, who was killed in a highway accident, November 23, were held from the Lyons Funeral Home, Williamstown, Friday afternoon, Rev. P. W. Baer, chaplain of the Veterans’ Hospital, Coatesville, officiated and interment was made in the Methodist Cemetery, Williamstown, Military rites were conducted by members of the Shuttlesworth-Radell Post of the American Legion, Williamstown.
Hoffman lost his life when the automobile in which he was a passenger, struck a pole along the highway near Sheridan. He sustained a fractured scull. Three companions were also injured.
Sergeant Hoffman was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoffman of Williamstown, and was spending a leave at his home prior to being assigned to duty in Europe. He had served two years with the Army during World War II, eighteen months of which were spent in the European theater. He had received his discharge in June 1946 of this year.
In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Norman Thompson, Philadelphia; and three brothers, Harold Hoffman, of the U. S. Navy, stationed in London, England; David I. Hoffman and Mark J. Hoffman, at home.
