Lykens Valley Concern Incorporated With Million Capital
The Lykens Valley Building and Loan Association, with headquarters in Gratz, was granted a State charter yesterday, with an authorized capital of $1,000,000. The board of directors consist of J. F. Romberger, Berrysburg; T. S. Klinger, of Gratz; J. Irwin Miller, of Artz; Robert S. Sexton, Philadelphia; C. G. Updegrove, Sacramento; A. C. Yoder, Hegins; George W. Weaver, Millersburg; Dr. T. P. Barnd, of Hegins; C. H. Kessler, of Mabel; and W. O. Leitzel, of Klingerstown.
The organization of this company is part of the general development scheme of the Lykens Valley in consequence of the building of the Midland Pennsylvania Railroad through Millersburg to Ashland. The building and loan association was temporarily organized at a meeting held at Artz last June.
