KILLED IN PACIFIC
Corporal Raymond H. Holwig, who resided with his grandfather, George Witmer, in Wiconisco, for 13 years, has been killed in action in the Pacific area, it was announced by the War Department. In addition to his grandfather, he is survived by his father, Harry Holwig, Elizabethville, his wife, the former Eleanor Smeltz, Gratz, two brothers, Staff Sergeant William Holwig, U. S. Marines, and Seaman First Class Edward Holwig, and a sister Margaret Holwig, who resides with her grandfather. Corporal Holwig was inducted in the Marines, 25 July 1942. He was last heard of on Saipan Island, where he had met his brother William Holwig, while in the front lines.

Raymond Harry Holwig was born 3 March 1921, in Wiconisco, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and Killed in Action in World War II on 7 July 1944 on Saipan. He was originally buried in the 4th Division Marine Cemetery, in the Marianas Islands, his remains were relocated to the National Memorial Cemetery Of The Pacific, in Honolulu, Hawaii on 11 March 1949.
