TWO MEN VICTIMS OF HUNTING ACCIDENTS
John F. Daniels, 48, of Lykens Township, and Jack Judy, 17, of Rutherford Heights, lost their lives while hunting on Saturday.
Daniels, who was the owner of a turkey farm near Gratz, was shot in the head while hunting in Potter County, near Coudersport, Saturday afternoon.
He was a son of the late Milton Daniels and Louisa [Coleman] Daniels, and was a native of Hubley Township, Schuylkill County. He was a member of Simeon’s Reformed Church, Gratz.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mabel [Saltzer] Daniels; one brother, Stanford Daniels, of Tremont; and three sisters, Mrs. Walter Williams, Hershey; Mrs. Gertrude Kopp, Tremont; and Mrs. Kate Smeltz, Hegins.
Services will be held from the residence at 10 o’clock this Thursday morning with further services in Simeon’s Lutheran and Reformed Church. Rev. A. Levan Zechman, pastor of the Lykens Valley Reformed Charge will officiate and interment will be in the Gratz Cemetery.
Judy was fatally shot while hunting in Powls Valley, east of Carsonville, Saturday morning.
Dr. S. J. Roberts, Dauphin County Coroner, said the youth was shot just below the left collarbone and died almost instantly.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Judy, four sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services were held at Middletown Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the Middletown Cemetery.
