A photograph from the 1880s of the platform of the Mount Carbon, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, railroad station, on which a group of executives of the Philadelphia and Reading Coal and Iron Company were waiting for a train to take them on a tour of the western anthracite coal fields belonging to the company.
The caption with the photo indicated that the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad reached Mount Carbon in 1842, but did not give a date when the station platform was built or identify any of the individuals pictured.

Small correction: Mount Carbon is a small borough just south of Pottsville, in Schuylkill County, while Mount Carmel is in Northumberland County to the north and west. [Thank you for pointing out the error; as a result, I have corrected the post. ng]
