SCHUYLKILL MEMORY LANE QUIZ
Clue: Now here’s a tractor to beat all tractors. One of the men pictured is deceased, but the other has moved back to Tower City after retiring and lives on Wiconisco Avenue. You can find the one man’s name elsewhere in the paper this week.
Answer: The two young men on last week’s tractor were Harry Smyk, now deceased, whose grandson was shown in the picture as a state policeman from Delaware, and George Sherlack, who now lives on Wiconisco Avenue. The picture was taken about 1923, and the tractor had been borrowed from Danny Houtz of Clark’s Valley for threshing at Sherack’s farm.
