Rev. Christian C. Moyer, pastor of the Evangelical churches of Elizabethville, Oakdale, Lykens and Wiconisco, was born in Blooming Glen, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, 28 March 1867, a son of Christian F. Moyer and Mary [Clymer] Moyer.
Rudolph Moyer, the grandfather, spelled his name Meyer; previous to that it had been spelled Maier. He was a farmer in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where he died.
The father, Christian F. Moyer, was born in Montgomery County, where he was reared to manhood and became a farmer. He was married there 2 December 1840, and removed to a farm in Bucks County, where he died 28 October 1894. His wife was born 25 October 1825 in New Briton, Bucks County, and died 10 May 1882. Their children were:
William Moyer, a farmer on the homestead;
Abraham Moyer, shoemaker, employed in the factory;
Henry Moyer, agent;
John Moyer, died aged twenty-eight years;
Rev. Christian C. Moyer; and
Several children died in infancy.
The father, Christian F. Moyer, is a Republican in politics.
Rev. Christian C. Moyer attended the schools of his native place until he was seventeen years of age. While teaching and doing other kinds of work he pursues a course of chemical and theological studies at home. For ten years he was a telegrapher, and served as a ticket agent, telegraph operator, and ticket agent, [and] has accepted twenty-eight different positions, and during this time he continued his studies for the ministry and educated himself. He remained for two years at Northampton, one year at Nazareth and Bath. He was then sent to Elizabethville in 1895. He was married at Perkasie, Pennsylvania, 7 April 1887, to Miss Alice M. Deily, daughter of David Deily. Their children are:
Elva Moyer, born 31 October 1887;
Cora Moyer, born 4 December 1889; and
Annie Moyer, born 4 June 1892.
Rev.. Moyer is a Prohibitionist with Republican proclivities.
