Adam C. Long, bookseller and stationer, was born in Jonestown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, 1 August 1844.
Auburn Long, the great grandfather of Adam C. Long, or rather Lang, as the name was originally spelled, was a native of Germany and a soldier in the Revolutionary War.
Christian Long,the grandfather of Adam C. Long, took part in the War of 1812. He was a distiller. He had eleven children. He was a member of the Lutheran church, old school.
Joseph Long, the father of Adam C. Long, was also born in Jonestown. He was a farmer and distiller in Lebanon County. In the winter he worked as a blacksmith and cooper. He married Catherine Shuey, born in Union Township, Lebanon County, member of an old German family. They had six children:
Edward C. Long, Pittsburgh;
Adam C. Long;
Monroe C. Long, postmaster at Jonestown, Pennsylvania;
Emma Long, wife of B. F. Schools, weighmaster, Cornwall Furnace;
Sallie C. Long, wife of E. P. Schropp, foundryman, Lebanon, Pennsylvania;
Annie E. Long, wife of William Shirk, a business man of Fredericksburg, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Joseph Long died 23 December 1886. He was a Democrat. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. His wife is still living at seventy-six years of age.
Adam C. Long attended the schools of Jonestown, Pennsylvania, and also Swatara Collegiate Institute, from which he was graduated in 1860. He taught school three terms in Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties. He was general Clerk in a store in Fredericksburg until1870, when he came to Lykens Valley and for fourteen and a half years was bookkeeper and clerk for the firm of Miller and Hielner, Wiconisco, giving the utmost satisfaction. In 1884 Mr. Long began selling organs and musical instruments and opened a book store in Lykens. He has continued the business very successfully to the present time.
Mr. Adam C. Long was married at Meyerstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, 31 October 1867, to Elizabeth L. Lebo, daughter of Henry Lebo, farmer of Lebanon County. She was born at Meyerstown, 32 March 1848. They have two children:
Irvin J. Long, born 6 February 1869, editor and proprietor of the Lykens Register; and
Ellen N. Long, born 6 January 1871, wife of Arthur F. Douden, druggist, Brooklyn, New York.
Mrs. Elizabeth [Lebo] Long died 29 June 1895. She took an active part in church matters.
Mr. Adam C. Long is a Republican in political principles, is a notary public, and is an agent for the Norwood Insurance Company of New York and for the German Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, as well as pension attorney for Lykens. He belongs to the Lykens Lodge, No. 106, K. of P., and is a past officer of the order.

According to his death certificate, Adam C. Long died on 8 June 1908 at Lykens. He is buried at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
