This track-side railroad tool shed was located in Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, just west of the Elizabethville water tank, which was used to service locomotives on the Summit Branch Railroad.
The photograph was taken in 1917 as part of the Interstate Commerce Commission’s survey of railroad structures to determine the feasibility of merging many of the smaller railroads into larger regional systems to improve operational efficiency. The original photograph was damaged by improper storage methods.
