In January 1938, Rev. A. Levan Zechman began his pastorate in the Lykens Valley area serving several churches including Simeon Reformed Church in Gratz.
Rev. Zechman is especially remembered as having a good relationship with his parishoners. Despite the fact that he served four congregations, Simeon at Gratz, Peace at Berrysburg, Salem and Elizabethville, and St. Peter’s (Hoffman’s) at Lykens Township, he frequently took time to those who were sick and those with other personal problems.
Rev. Zechman resigned in 1949 in order to accept a call to the Friedensburg Charge.
