Police: 2 Teens Burned Cross at Woman’s Home
ELIZABETHVILLE – Two teenage boys have been charged in a cross-burning incident at the northern Dauphin County home of a black woman.
The boys, ages 14 and 17, were charged as juveniles with ethnic intimidation [hate crime], arson, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and criminal conspiracy for the January 22 incident in Washington Township, near Elizabethville, State Police in Lykens said Wednesday.
The teens were not identified.
The two allegedly set fire to 2-foot tall wooden cross they placed in front of the home in the 200 block of Greenfield Estates.
The victim, Ashley Brooks, said the incident occurred while she was at work. She said she learned of it from a neighbor who put out the fire before it spread to her house.
