An undated colorized post card view supposedly representing Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. However, the scene depicts ocean waves in the background and five bathers on a beach, in swimsuits, supposedly engaged in a tug of war.
Pine Grove is more than 500 feet above sea level so there is no way that this could be a typical Pine Grove scene. What this may represent though is a group of vacationers from Pine Grove on a beach such as in Atlantic City, which was up through the 1960s a popular and inexpensive place for workers in the greater Lykens Valley area to spent a week of their summer vacation.
