An article appearing in the Elizabethville Echo of May 31, 1934, noted that the Gratz High School was about to complete its 10-gave schedule and thus far had gone undefeated.
HAVE UNDEFEATED BASEBALL TEAM
The final game of a ten game league series will be played today by the [Gratz] high school baseball team. The team, which has been playing teams of all the larger local high schools have been undefeated this season.
The following boys are members of the team: George Laudenslager, student coach, shortstop; Orville Daniels, student manager, pitcher; Benjamin Hepler, first base; Samuel Riegel, catcher; Rufus Kebaugh, second base; Guy Miller, third base; Charles Wise Jr., left field; Charles Muth, center field; Grant Phillips, right field.
The second team lineup which has rendered valuable assistance in this year’s schedule is composed of Charles Bellis, Earl Kissinger and Paul Umholtz, who also acts as base umpire on away-from-home games.
The Lykens Standard of June 1, 1934 confirmed that the tenth game was won by Gratz and an undefeated season resulted.
