A photograph taken in March 2011 of the Cold Spring in Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, The view is looking east from the road entering the State Game Lands.
The Cold Stream was a popular recreational area for the residents of Gratz. It was along this spring that Fort Jackson was built some time in the 1830s. Into the early years of the 20th century, the ruins of Fort Jackson were part of the backdrop for picnics and bathing as evidenced by the photographs that have survived, some being made into post cards.
