An 1853 map that focuses on Philadelphia’s Great North and Lake Route of the North Pennsylvania Railroad and its connections. The north, middle and south anthracite coal fields are noted in green but there are no Pennsylvania Railroad lines running through the Lykens Valley area. There were railroads, but they were operated by other companies.
Harrisburg and Sunbury are noted, as is Shamokin, but communities in between are not.
An enlargeable and downloadable copy of this map is available from the Library of Congress and/or the map collection of Ancestry.com.
