A photograph from around 1967 of the Assembly of God Church, Upper Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
A brief history of this church to 1967 appeared in the Bicentennial Book of Upper Paxton Township, 1767-1967, written by Mrs. Floyd Underkoffler:
The Assembly of God Church was started with cottage prayer meetings under the supervision of Rev. Walter Kronberg of the Spring Glen Assembly of God Church in the year 1954. The building, known as 377 Union Street, Millersburg, was acquired as a regular meeting place with living quarters upstairs for the pastor. It was here that the church was set in order by the District Presbyter with Rev. and Mrs. Robert Wallace as the first pastor. The next three years were spent in this building until the present site, 327 Berrysburg Road, Killinger, was purchased under the supervision of Rev. and Mrs. David Forkey and a basement church was erected. The church was incorporated in January, 1960 with Allen Shaffer as the attorney.
The congregation worshipped in the basement church until the present pastor, rev. and Mrs. Clifford Geedy, accepted the call to pastor here. Under their careful and well planned supervision, the present auditorium was erected. This present edifice is a testimony to the faith of a few Christians and the untiring efforts of the pastor and especially to the present pastor, Rev. and Mrs. Clifford Geedy.
The Assembly of God vacated the Berrysburg Road property in April 2003 and relocated at 2261 Shippen Dam Road, Millersburg. The church currently has a web site and Facebook page.
A 2021 street-view from GoogleMaps shows the old church building with only the stained glass windows remaining giving a clue that this was once a church.
According to Dauphin County Tax Records, the property on which this building is situated is currently [2021] owned by the Millersburg Area School District. The athletic fields of the schools are directly behind this building.
