A photo of the yard master’s office of the Pennsylvania Railroad at Lykens, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Not much is known about this structure other than it supposedly was located on the south side of the yard as noted on early maps of Lykens and all yard operations were coordinated from here. The date of construction may have been pre-Civil War, as a yard office appears on a map of that time.
The photo was taken in 1916 as part of the survey of buildings done for the Interstate Commerce Commission. The building seen at the left in the photo is an unidentified private home.
