At the time of this writing the relationship has not been genealogically confirmed. The claim is that John F. Kennedy’s maternal grandfather (through his mother Rose [Fitzgerald] Kennedy), who was John Francis “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald (1863-1950) had a sister Kathryn Fitzgerald who married a man with the surname McCarthy, and John J. McCarthy (1902-1954) was their son. John J. McCarthy had a daughter, Lorraine Anna [McCarthy] Adams (1931-2007) who married Marlin Harrison Adams (1930-2004) of Porter Township, Schuylkill County, and Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Marlin’s roots go back several generations in the area. There are currently several living children of this marriage.
