A newspaper photograph of an old undated post card view of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Station at Tremont, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The people on the platform are not identified.
The following story was provided with the photo:
RAILROAD STATION IN TREMONT — For many years a tremendously important place to Tremonters. We remember taking the morning train here, riding as far as Westwood Switch, where we changed to a trolley car for the remainder of the trip into Pottsville. Tremont’s attorneys, R. S. Bashore, M. J. Fleming and H. O. Haag, traveled this route every day, as did all who had jobs in the county seat and those who went there to shop or for other reasons. There were passenger trains [also] to Lebanon and to the west end of the county, and long, long trains of coal cars and freight cars passed here daily. Nor can we forget when the circus train arrived in town in the summer, and all of us kids lined up along the tracks to watch the animals being unloaded in preparation for the greatest day of the year!
