An advertisement that appeared in the Elizabethville Echo in 1949 for the Gratz Automotive School, Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. According to the many ads in local papers, the school offered flexible class schedules and encouraged veterans to enroll by informing them they were entitled to a set of tools and subsistence up to $120.00 per month.
From the ads, the Gratz Automotive School existed only from 1949 through 1951. At the beginning, Paul J. Donahue was listed as director, and at the end the director was John W. Thompson.
Most of the ads did not have an accompanying photo. The one shown here is of classes held in an academic setting. No photo has been seen of the school’s automotive shop.
Does any blog reader know where this school was located in Gratz or why it went out of business?
