A line-drawn portrait of John S. Reiff, Sheriff-Elect of Dauphin County, as presented in the Lykens Register, November 9, 1899.
The results of the election, by communities, were also published in the same newspaper:
The results indicated that all of the communities in the Lykens Valley area strongly supported Reiff, the Republican candidate, with the exception of Elizabethville, where the election was closely contested, and Wayne Township, where the Democratic candidate defeated Reiff with a majority of the vote. Including Harrisburg and the rest of county, Reiff garnered over 9000 votes to the approximate 4500 votes of his closest rival, the Democrat.
Communities where the vote was enumerated: Berrysburg; Elizabethville; Gratz; Lykens; Lykens Township; Millersburg; Rush Township; Uniontown [Pillow]; Washington Township; Wayne Township; Wiconisco; Williamstown; Williams Township.
