The photo appeared in the “Looking Back” feature of the Pottsville Republican and Herald, October 13, 2013. along with the following caption:
The former National Hotel, Oak and Second Streets, Mount Carmel, was erected by Thomas Scott in the late 1860s. Descendants of the original owners reside in Mt. Carmel to this day. When Thomas Edison‘s electricity plant was being erected in 1882, Edison’s representatives stayed at the hotel.
