A photo from the late 1860s taken by photographer Isaac Kunkel of the Lykens Valley Coal Company’s breaker on the eastern slopes of Bear Gap in Wiconisco Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
The photo was posted by Jake Wynn who noted that the coal cars are marked with the initials S. B. R. R., indicating the Summit Branch Railroad, the company that took over the operation of the Lykens Valley railroad during the Civil War.
Wynn notes that the photo is from the collections of the Williamstown Historical Society.
