Earl John “Sparky” Adams was born August 26, 1894 in Zerbe, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, and died on February 24, 1989, in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. He spent most of his life in Tremont, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania where he attended Tremont High School. He is buried at St. Peter’s Church of Christ Cemetery, in Tremont.
During his time in Major League Baseball, 1922-1934, he played second base, third base, and shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, and Cincinnati Reds, all of the National League.
