An undated colorized post card view from October 1905 issued in commemoration of Mitchell Day in the coal regions. All the collieries were closed and John Mitchell, President of the United Mine Workers, appeared in several of the communities to speak. A portrait of Mitchell appears at left on the card and a portrait of President Teddy Roosevelt, who was supportive of the coal miners, appears at right.
This photo appeared in the Pine Grove Press Herald, “Down Memory Lane” feature, August 19, 1971, with the comment that this was a depiction of the Tremont Railroad Station.
