The photo appeared in the “Down Memory Lane” feature of the Pine Grove Press Herald, August 9, 1973, with following caption:
This photo, taken at the Cherryville School (now Stanley Barr‘s Workshop) dates probably back to the early 1890s. Frank Heffner was the teacher. Stanley Barr‘s father, the late Richard Barr, wrote across the back of the picture: “This picture was taken when I was picking slate at Lincoln Colliery (The Breaker).” Richard Barr is the boy standing directly to the teacher’s left….
