A colorized version of a photograph taken around 1908 of the students and teacher at the Paradise School, Ravine, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. The photo appeared in the “Down Memory Lane” feature of the Pine Grove Press Herald, February 26, 1976.
Harvey Herring permitted the Press Herald to use this photo of the old Paradise School taken in September, 1908. The teacher, standing behind his students was Lewis Herring, Harvey Herring‘s father. Mr. Herring told us that his father was 28 years old at the time this picture was taken, and that his salary as a teacher was $29 per month.
