As postmaster of Lykens since 1902, Henry Feindt has proved one of the most satisfactory official the borough has ever had. Mr. Feindt is one of the old, substantial citizens of Lykens and for many years was engaged in the shoe business. Since his appointment as postmaster, a number of improvements have been inaugurated. Two assistants are employed and the affairs of the office are now being handled with greater dispatch than ever before. Mr. Feindt has always enjoyed a high personal standing here and for many years has taken a prominent part in all progressive measures. He has served as burgess, councilman, school director and has always been a strong Republican party man. During the Civil War he served throughout that period of the country’s distress from beginning to end. He first enlisted for 3 months on April 26, 1861, re-enlisted September 14, 1861 for 3 years and after serving his full time, re-enlisted for third siege on January 1,1864 for three years longer. But the war was now over and he received an honorable discharge on August 18, 1865. Mr. Feindt is a prominent member of Heilner Post, No. 232, G. A. R. and has long been active in various fraternal societies.
