A 2011 photograph of the Zion Lutheran Church, Rife, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
Zion Lutheran Church is located on Rife Road, Upper Paxton Township, between Millersburg and Elizabethville, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
When the congregation celebrated its 175th anniversary, the following brief history was published in a local newspaper:
The church was originally named Zion Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Union Church at Rife, and the original church building was dedicated in the fall of 1843, being a 26-feet-by-32-feet log building located on the present day cemetery. In 1882 the present church building was built to accommodate the growing congregation. In 1950, the Rife schoolhouse was purchased from the Upper Paxton Township School Board to be used for Christian education and fellowship activities. Construction was done in 1960 to join the two structures adding bathrooms, a kitchen, an office and classroom space. In January of 1973, Lutheran church members and United Church of Christ church members joined together as one church, hereby known as Zion Lutheran Church-Rife.
