A group photograph of unidentified persons taken at an unknown time and for an unknown reason, includes a Civil War veteran, Joel Wiest Strohecker, who is in the 2nd row, 2nd from right (#7 in the numbered photo below). Strohecker was born 10 March 1845 in Jordan Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, and spent much of his life in that county, also living there in Jackson Township. After the Civil War, he moved to Black Hawk County, Iowa, but then returned to spent the rest of his life in the area around Pillow, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He died on 8 January 1924 in Pillow and is buried in the Union Cemetery near there (Jordan Township, Northumberland County). Additional information about Joel W.
