I loved Ho-Jo’s as child on the Turnpike. Loved the stone, PA limestone. Hot digs on the Turnpike were a usual meal as we drove from Erie to Harrisburg on the holidays. Then the PA turnpike commission sacked them all. Historical building, Pa building turned into West Us buildings. Why? Where are the colonial PA Ho-Jo’s? Gone for ever. Oh, they saved one, but gutted the knoty-pine beautiful inferior…. Lost history and lost Ho-Jo’s!
