From the Lykens Standard of February 29, 1924, we learn the following about Elizabethville resident David P. Baker:
COURT INTERPRETER A CITIZEN OF ELIZABETHVILLE
Mr. David P. Baker, proprietor of the Clothing Store, Main and Market Streets, Elizabethville, who came to that town from Steelton a few years ago, has been translator and Court interpreter at Harrisburg for a number of years, and in the trial of numerous murder cases he renders valuable service. Mr. Baker is familiar with the Serbian, Bulgarian, Russian, Polish, Macedonian, Lithuanian, Slovena, German, Yiddish and old Hebrew languages and has been called upon to translate wills and other documents and then transcribe them in the record books.
