CHILD DIES AT HOSPITAL FROM EFFECT OF SCALD
Ralph Stuppy Jr., the 2-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stuppy, was admitted to the Harrisburg Hospital with severe burns of the abdomen, back and thighs, received late Saturday afternoon when he fell into a bucket of boiling water at his home.
While his mother was absent from the kitchen, the child was playing about the floor. His romping brought him close to the bucket of hot water where he lost his balance and fell into the water backwards.
The mother’s back had been turned but she heard his screams and rescued him immediately. He was taken to the office of Dr. E. L. Royer, Wiconisco, who ordered his removal to the hospital.
The child died at that institution Monday night. The body was brought to this place [Lykens] and services and burial were held yesterday.
Surviving are the parents and a sister Marie.
