GEORGE CAIRNS DIED YESTERDAY FOLLOWING OPERATION
MANAGED LYKENS MOTOR COMPANY – WAS LOCAL COUNCILMAN
George D. Cairns, manager of the Lykens Motor Car Company, this place, and member of Lykens Borough Council, died yesterday afternoon and the Morrison Hospital, Frankford, Philadelphia, following an operation which he underwent Wednesday afternoon for the removal of kidney stones. His death occurred at 1:35.
The operation which was serious started at 3:00 P. M. Wednesday and required four hours. Mr. Cairns was noticed to be sinking immediately after and end came at the above time.
He was aged 47 years and came to Lykens about two-and-one half years ago from Sunbury. Under his direction the Lykens Motor Car Company made great strides and this company loses a valuable leader in his death.
Surviving are his wife and three children, George Cairns, Robert Cairns, and Catherine Cairns.
Fraternally he was a member of the F. & A. M. of Philadelphia, and the I. O. O. F. of Sunbury.
No arrangements were made for the funeral at at this writing.
