“The Adams Express” was a special passenger train that made daily runs between Williamstown and Millersburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on the Summit Branch Railroad. From a timetable of 1875, the train made stops at Woodside, Cross Roads [Elizabethville], Oakdale [Loyalton], Lykens, and Wiconisco. Also carried on this train were household goods, groceries and freight. Because of the stops to load and unload, the trip took about an hour and 20 minutes to make the 20 mile run.
The picture above is undated, but was probably taken in the early 20th century.
More information is sought about this train and the service it provided.
