A wedding photo taken about 1909 at the Rowland Studio, Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
Norman L. Riegle (1886-1942) of Specktown, Lykens Township, Dauphin County, and Lydia Alice Helt (1883-1942), of Elizabethville and Lykens, were married in Elizabethville, Dauphin County, on 10 September 1909, and posed for this picture shortly thereafter.
Lydia’s brother was James Helt (1884-1953), a furniture dealer and funeral director in Lykens, and her mother Catherine [Snyder] Helt (1853-1909) was the sister of Harvey H. Snyder (1868-1948), who operated a general store in Loyalton. A box of Lydia’s photographs was passed down to Melva Sitlinger (1901-1985) who worked in the general store and later succeeded Harvey H. Snyder as Postmaster of Loyalton. Lydia’s husband Norman was the uncle of Melva, whose mother was Norman’s sister.
Lydia and Norman Riegle lived most of their adult lives in Robesonia, Berks County, Pennsylvania, where they operated a furniture store and undertaking business.
Other Rowland photos are sought, individuals identified or not identified, to post here.
