LYKENS POLICE CHIEF STRUCK BY CAR; DIES TUESDAY
Harry McCall, age 32 years, Lykens Chief of Police, was fatally injured when hit by an automobile at Grand Avenue and Fifth Streets, Tower City, Christmas night [26 December 1939]. He died in a Pottsville Hospital Tuesday evening.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Margaret McCall of Lykens, and one sister, Mrs. Marian McClintock, of Brownsville, New Jersey.
Funeral services will be held from the Reiff and Helt Funeral Parlors, Lykens, at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. Mr. Foulk, pastor of the Lykens Episcopal Church will officiate and interment will be made in the Wiconisco Cemetery.
It was stated that McCall, who was off duty Monday, had gone to Tower City to spend the day. According to advices, the man was struck when he stepped from behind a parked automobile. McCall sustained fractures of the scull and of a leg.
