DIED SATURDAY WHILE HUNTING
Elmer W. Romberger, age 69 years, died suddenly while hunting on his farm, a short distance north of Loyalton, Saturday morning [31 October 1942].
Mr. Romberger had just shot a ringneck pheasant and had spoken with another hunter a moment before he collapsed.
Mr. Romberger was a son of the late Edward Romberger and Sara [Klinger] Romberger, and a native of Lykens Township. He was a member of the Evangelical Church, Loyalton and had been Superintendent of the Sunday School forty-five years. He had also served in a number of church offices, and was treasurer at the time of his death.
Mr. Romberger had been a salesman for the Lykens Mercantile Company thirty-five years and was also a member of the Lykens Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Romberger; one son, Paul Romberger; a grandson, Robert Romberger, of Millersburg; and one sister, Mrs. P. W. G. Raker, of Elizabethville.
Funeral services were held in the Loyalton Evangelical Church at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. The pastor, C. N. Kindt, officiated and interment was made in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville. Members of the Lykens Masonic Lodge conducted rites at the grave.
