BERRYSBURG FUNERAL DIRECTOR DIED TUESDAY
Walter W. Hoover, age 64 years, 8 months and 18 days, Berrysburg Funeral Director, died in a Harrisburg hospital Tuesday evening, following an illness of about two weeks.
He was a son of the late Henry Hoover and Louise [Zimmerman] Hoover, and was a native of Millersburg, but had resided in Berrysburg most of his life.
Mr. Hoover, along with three brothers, John Hoover, Oscar Hoover, and Wellington Hoover, founded the Hoover Brothers Manufacturing Company, Berrysburg, which for years has manufactured church and home furnishings. Mr. Hoover entered the funeral directing business in 1904, and continued in that vocation to the time of his death.
He was a member of Salem Reformed church, Berrysburg, and of the National Funeral Directors Association. He was also affiliated with the Modern Woodmen, P.O.S. of A., and Knights of the Golden Eagle lodges of Berrysburg, and the Junior Order United American Mechanics Lodge of Pillow.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph E. Deibler, of Hershey, and Mrs. Paul Bordner of Berrysburg; two sons, Warren R. Hoover, of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, and Richard Hoover, of Berrysburg. Other survivors are a sister and two brothers: Miss Ida Hoover and John R. Hoover, both of Berrysburg; and Robert M. Hoover of Penbrook; and nine grandchildren. His wife, who was formerly Miss Margaret Alice Robinson, preceded him in death six years ago.
Funeral services will be held from the residence at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. A. Levan Zechman, pastor of the Lykens Valley reformed Charge, will officiate, and interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.
