Simeon Lutheran Church is located in Gratz, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. A transcribed Parish Register containing records of baptisms, marriages, and deaths, is available for the years 1889-1950.
The introductory page states the following:
The Lutheran congregation at Gratz shares its building, Simeon’s Church, with a Reformed [United Church of Christ] congregation. Possibly its register of pastoral acts, begun in 1822 (which presumably contained records up to the point in the book represented in the following transcript was begun) was also a joint register. The oldest record of the Reformed congregation now extant begins in the 1860’s.
The early records apparently are lost and the only book the congregation has, other than that currently in use, is the one copied in the following pages. Only births, marriages and burials have been copied. The transcript was made by Mrs. W. E. Hutchinson and Mrs. Peggy J. Breighner, under the direction of the undersigned. [Sig] Pastor Frederick S. Weiser, Archivist. A. R. Wentz Library, Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg [Adams County], Pennsylvania. 6 February 1969.
The transcribed register is 113 pages in length and includes a 6 page surname index and 5 page history of the congregation.
The originals were transcribed at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania, and microfilm copies were first made available to churches, libraries and the public. As of this writing, the pages have not been uploaded to Ancestry.com.
