An aerial view of the 104 acre Joseph H. “Joesy” Hartman (1924-1993) farm in Lykens Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, about 1965. Previous to the acquisition by Joesy, it was owned by his parents, Joseph H. Hartman (1885-1958) and Elma E. [Willier] Hartman (1890-1969).
In 1875, this was part of the 110 acre farm owned by Michael Hartman. Originally in 1797, it was part of land that was patented to Peter Ritzman.
The owners of this farm grew a variety of grains and had many types of fruit trees, but specialized in peaches. Products were sold on huckster routes in nearby towns.
